Bart Mitchell, Youth Pastor
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
How wonderful is it to know that God has plans for each of us! Those wonderful plans include giving us hope and a bright future. God has blessed me with a beautiful wife, Jody and three awesome children: Morgan, 16; Carter, 14; and Dawson, 10. I am a graduate of USC Spartanburg and have plans to continue my education and receive a Master’s of Divinity. I was ordained as a minister in 2007 at my home church, Philadelphia Baptist Church in Pauline, SC. I knew at an early age that God was calling me into the ministry. However, I got sidetracked and didn’t submit to his call until I was 31 years old. God’s plans never change and it is comforting to know that He continued to call me even when I wasn’t always answering Him. I know what an honor and privilege it is to be called to serve at Cedar Shoals. I love working with students and have a passion for teaching them about God’s plans for them. I am very excited about what God has in store for our students and our church!
Chris Cornelius, Outreach and Missions
“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone” (Colossians 4: 5-6).
As Outreach Minister of Cedar Shoals I follow God’s leading in helping the church to stay focused outside the walls of the church. My heart is leading families to the gospel of Christ in order to fulfill the plans God has for them. I lead and facilitate the outreach events at our church and in our community as well as help lead teams in mission events nationally and internationally. Our goal at Cedar Shoals is to make disciples of all nations and races. I became a believer in Christ and follower of the gospel at 9, but spent many years running from God and fighting His calling on my life. I am in the final stages of my B.S. degree in Christian Ministry from Liberty University and will continue to follow God’s calling on my life; wherever He may lead. My best friend and help mate is my wife Suzanne and we have the joy of parenting: Austin 16, Reagan 9, and Bryson 6. As a church family we would be thrilled to have you come visit and will do everything possible to make you feel warm and welcome in an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit leads our services.
